Trump on 2016 race: ‘We view this as war’

Donald Trump wants his supporters to consider the current presidential race a “war” and the other 2016 hopefuls his “enemies.”

During a campaign rally Wednesday in Hilton Head, S.C., Trump said his leading insult against Florida Gov. Jeb Bush can double as a descriptor for Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

“By the way, low energy can be applied to Hillary. I just don’t like to use the same thing twice on one of my enemies, because I consider them enemies,” he said, referring to both Bush and Clinton.

Trump added, “We view this as war. Don’t we view this as war? It’s war, it’s war!”

The admission certainly matches Trump’s behavior on the campaign trail. The bombastic businessman routinely devotes several minutes in his campaign speeches to ridiculing his opponents and their million-dollar efforts to gain traction in the Republican field, and he rarely hesitates to remind his rivals he will “hit [them] ten times harder” if they attack him first.

Trump, who’s second in the Washington Examiner’s presidential power rankings, also claimed Wednesday that his recent attacks against Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, silenced the former secretary of state’s criticism of him.
