Maine Rep. Jared Golden will hold a second term in the House after defeating his Republican challenger, former state Rep. Dale Crafts.
The Associated Press called the race in Golden’s favor on Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. EST.
Golden, 38, was first elected to the House in 2018 after narrowly winning through Maine’s ranked-choice voting law.
Prior to his congressional bid, Golden was a state representative for four years. A Marine Corps veteran, he served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Golden drew national attention in late 2019 when he split his impeachment votes against President Trump. Golden voted to impeach the president for abuse of power but not the obstruction of Congress article. Both articles of impeachment were passed by the Democratic-controlled House, but Trump was later acquitted by the GOP-led Senate in early 2020.
