Trump staying in New York for Indiana primary night

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced Monday that his campaign will hold its near-weekly election night event at Trump Tower in New York as results come in for the Indiana primary tomorrow.

The campaign made the announcement in a press release, which said the event is set to start at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The vast majority of Trump’s post-election events have been held at his properties, including Trump Tower and his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla. He also held primary night events in early voting states, such as Iowa and South Carolina.

Trump took questions from press who attended the event last Tuesday at Trump Tower, but he did not in previous events, including one after his primary victories on March 15. The campaign did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s inquiry about him possibly taking questions at Tuesday’s event.

Trump is currently the favorite heading into Tuesday’s primary, and he leads Sen. Ted Cruz by 9 percentage points in the latest RealClearPolitics average. A win could all but guarantee that he reaches the requisite 1,237 delegate count ahead of July’s convention in Cleveland.
