Prosecutors released the cellphone video logs from Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz footage on Wednesday, revealing a chilling look into his plan to become an infamous school shooter.
The three cellphone video clips, which were first published by the Sun Sentinel, show Cruz calmly detail his plans to commit a mass shooting at his high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, Fla.
“My name is Nik, and I’m going to be the next school shooter of 2018,” he said. “My goal is at least 20 people.”
While the shooting did not go exactly according to the plan laid out in the videos, the footage offers an inside look at his desperate attempt to gain notoriety from massacre.
“When you see me on the news, you’ll know who I am,” he said. “You’re all going to die. Pew pew pew pew pew. Ah yeah. Can’t wait.”
He goes onto say he’s had “enough” of the way he’s been treated and goes on to call his classmates “stupid and brainwashed.”
“I’ve had enough being told what to do and when to do. Telling me I’m an idiot and a dumbass,” he explained. “In real life, you’re all the dumbass. You’re all stupid and brainwashed.”
The last video, which appears to take place on the day of the shooting, shows a relaxed Cruz mentally preparing for his attack.
“Today is the day. The day that it all begins. The day of my massacre shall begin,” he says in the video. “All the kids in school will run in fear and hide. From the wrath of my power they will know who I am.”
Cruz was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder for the Feb. 14 massacre and could face the death penalty if convicted.
