Family’s French bulldog stolen at gunpoint during walk in San Francisco Bay area

One family is searching for their French bulldog after it was stolen during an armed robbery in Castro Valley, California, Saturday evening.

A mother and daughter were walking Tito along Norbridge Avenue at 5:30 p.m. when several armed individuals approached them from a car and proceeded to steal the daughter’s purse, containing her wallet and car keys, and Tito before fleeing in a vehicle, according to a press release from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

Later that evening, the suspects returned to the daughter’s home in Castro Valley and stole her vehicle from the driveway, police said.

Authorities said Monday on social media that they are working to safely return Tito to his family.

“The family just wants him back. We are hoping the robbers will do the right thing and drop him off at a safe location where he can be found and reunited with his family,” police wrote on Twitter.

The daughter said that four to five suspects, three of whom were armed with handguns, approached them from a “black SUV, 2019 KIA Niro.” One suspect stole the victim’s purse, while another took Tito from the daughter, before fleeing westbound in the Kia, according to the police.

Authorities canvassed the area following the incident and said they have located video footage from locations nearby.

Last year, Lady Gaga’s two French bulldogs were taken under similar circumstances while out with their dog-walker. Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for her two prized possessions, which were later returned to her.

Since then, there have been multiple reports of stolen French bulldogs in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to an SFGATE report.
