Johns Hopkins financial aid director placedon leave

Johns Hopkins University announced Monday that it had been informed by the parent company of Student Loan Xpress Inc. about consulting fees and travel expenses paid to the Homewood campus? director of student financial services. The Hopkins? official, Ellen Frishberg, had received about $65,000 in consulting fees and $1,200 in travel expenses since 2002, JHU said in a press release.

She was placed on paid administrative leave pending an inquiry by the university into the circumstances of the payments, the university said.

Student Loan Xpress is one of several lenders on lists Johns Hopkins maintains of suggested lenders for the federal PLUS and private loan programs.
