Teen killed in Baltimore; January off to bloody start

In the first four days of January, seven people have been killed in Baltimore, including two homicides Sunday night – marking a bloody start to the new year.

Police found a teenage boy and an unidentified female shot inside an apartment building in Northeast Baltimore at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Trevane Ricks, 16, and the female, were found in an apartment in the 5600 block of Loch Raven Boulevard in the Woodbourne Heights neighborhood suffering from gunshot wounds. Ricks, who lived in the neighborhood, died three hours later at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said. The female died later.

Less than three hours later, homicide detectives were working on a second case.

A 20-year-old man, Lougene Williams, was found lying in the middle of the street in the 4000 block of Chesmont Avenue at 10:20 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Police have no suspects or motive for either killing.

The deaths bring Baltimore’s 2009 homicide total to seven, compared with two this time last year.
