British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss says the United Kingdom will “absolutely” support any Brits who want to go and help Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
When asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s call for foreigners to come join the fight against Russia, the foreign secretary insisted that “people can make their own decisions” but that joining the war in Ukraine is for a cause greater than just Ukraine.
“The people of Ukraine are fighting for freedom and democracy, not just for Ukraine, but for the whole of Europe, because that is what President Putin is challenging,” Truss told the BBC. “Absolutely, if people want to support that struggle, I would support them in doing that.”
Truss also said that the war could last for a number of years but that it may be the “beginning of the end” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

UKRAINE CREATES INTERNATIONAL LEGION RECRUITING FOREIGNERS TO FIGHT RUSSIA
Zelensky’s administration announced the formation of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine Sunday. The group will consist of foreign volunteers.
“This is not just Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, this is the beginning of a war against Europe. Against European unity,” Zelensky was quoted as saying on his official website.
Foreigners willing to defend Ukraine and world order as part of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine, I invite you to contact foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine in your respective countries. Together we defeated Hitler, and we will defeat Putin, too.

“Foreigners willing to defend Ukraine and world order as part of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine, I invite you to contact foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine in your respective countries,” Kuleba said. “Together we defeated Hitler, and we will defeat Putin, too.”
