Whoops! Woman cooking waffles shot after friend leaves bullets in the oven

What started as a guy and his friend trying to cook a few waffles ended with the oven shooting and injuring the friend.

Yes, the oven shot her. Don’t worry, the victim is fine, but let’s just assume that she did NOT have waffles for breakfast this morning.

Aalaya Walker (18) went to St. Petersburg , Fla. Monday night to see her friend JJ Sandy (25) when the two decided they wanted a snack. Walker took it upon herself to pre-heat the oven. Unbeknownst to her the oven is also where her friend Sandy stores his ammo for his .45 caliber Glock 21.

Four rounds in a 13-capacity magazine fired off and fragments hit Walker in the chest and leg. She was able to yank out most of the pieces, catch a bus to the hospital, and was later released with minimal injuries.

As for Sandy, the police approached the 25-year-old, who does own a concealed weapons permit, and he readily admitted to keeping the magazine in the oven.

If temperatures reach at least 280 degrees, the .45 caliber bullets found in Glocks can fire off on their own.

According to the police report, Sandy “stated that he does not have a temperature gauge on the oven so he estimates the temperature based on how far the knob is turned,” The Tampa Bay Times reported.

Why they were planning to cook waffles in the oven is still a mystery. (Maybe Sandy doesn’t own a toaster like most people?) What also remains a mystery is why Sandy keeps the magazine for his Glock in the oven in the first place.

Moral of the story: always check the oven for .45 caliber Glock 21 magazines before preheating. It could save your life, literally.

As for Walker and Sandy, let’s hope they’ll just go to Taco Bell for fourth meal next time.
