Police believe armed Gaithersburg robberies are linked

Montgomery County police believe the same man is responsible for two armed robberies at Gaithersburg businesses.

The first robbery happened shortly before 8 p.m. on Jan. 18, when soomeone brandished a handgun and demanded cash from employees at the O’Hair Salon and Spa located at 424 Main St. The suspect, who was wearing a ski mask and possibly gloves, fled on foot after getting cash, police said.

The second incident happened Monday, when a masked man demanded cash from an employee at Salon G, located at 316 Main St., at about 8 p.m. The man ordered the employee into a bathroom, put a gun to her head and touched her inappropriately, police said. The suspect left through a back door after he obtained cash.

Both businesses, which are a block apart, were about to close when the suspect entered. Police described the suspect as black, about 30 years old, 5-feet-8-inches to 6-feet tall and 160 to 180 pounds.
