While the others have focused on the former president and their experiences in his administration, Carson’s tackles race, using his experiences as a black doctor and politician. Created Equal: The Painful Past, Confusing Present, and Hopeful Future of Race in America is due out in May.

“We can choose to build on the progress we have made over the centuries, or we can choose to create guilt and despair with the hope that that will further progress,” Carson said. “Historical analysis of human interactions would point to the more positive path as the one leading to success. The choice is ours.”

Publisher Center Street Editorial Director Alex Pappas said, “Dr. Ben Carson is an independent thinker who has written a truly unique, fearless, and optimistic book about race in America. Center Street is honored to publish Created Equal.”

He said that in the book, Carson “will lay out a hopeful and inspiring road map for bringing people together, instead of dividing each other, over race in America.”

  • He’s been selling forceful drawings of former President Donald Trump for years, but artist Jon McNaughton met his subject for the first time at Trump’s recent Texas rally. Naturally, he turned it into his latest pencil drawing of a stern Trump with the words, “We will make America great again.” McNaughton added: “Last Saturday, I finally had the opportunity to meet President Trump face to face. He spoke to a small group of people at a house in Conroe, Texas, where he said the quote from my sketch above. When I approached him, this was the look on his face. It changed quickly when I told him who I was.”

  • Respect is a hard thing to earn and keep. Just ask Washington’s political leaders. In the latest Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service Battleground Civility Poll, the most respected person in town is Dr. Anthony Fauci. Some 41% respect him “a lot.” He’s followed by President Joe Biden, who has just 31%. At the bottom is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Just 7% respect him a lot. Even the media do better, at 17%, and Black Lives Matter has 33%.
