Red Alert Politics went to Hillary Clinton’s rally in Alexandria, Virginia, to interview young Hillary supporters about why they’re supporting her campaign.
Only problem is, we could barely find any.
Out of the hundreds who attended, maybe 5 percent where under 30 years old.
If they were attending, most were with their parents, and beyond the volunteers, we could only find a couple small (two to four people in the groups) who were there to support Clinton.
While Alexandria isn’t close to that many campuses, we’ve seen Bernie Sanders’ rallies constantly filled with millennials. Sanders is out-polling Hillary with millennials, and of the couple millennials we spoke with (story here), they mostly supported Hillary over Bernie because “she is more electable.”
Not exactly an inspiring message.
We asked them about her support of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as supporting the bombing in Syria and Libya. We got a lot of dirty looks, and it was clear they were not wild about her pro-war stances. One supporter even brought up how her support of the Patriot Act also bothered him.
We asked a volunteer if Hillary was going to follow President Obama’s youth strategy. He responded, “I don’t think she really has a youth strategy.”
Clearly not.
