Madame Tussauds wax museum opens tomorrow

Think D.C. political types are so stiff and rehearsed they could be made of wax? Some of them now are. Madame Tussauds D.C. wax museum, complete with a wax Oval Office and teeming with iconic wax Washingtonians, opens to the public for a two-day preview starting tomorrow in the historic Woodward Lothrop building on F and 10th Streets Northwest.

While guests can spend plenty of time with the nation’s founding fathers and listen in on simulated World War II era phone calls between Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, it’s not all politics and punditry.

Interactive exhibits allow visitors to practice their boxing skills against reactive light beams as a wax Evander Holyfield provides coaching tips or help Tiger Woods line up his putt. And, of course, a wax Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Beyonce and other celebs will be around to lend D.C. some permanent glamour.

Tickets are $10 for the Friday and Saturday preview days and will jump up to a regular $25 rate after that.
