A Democratic lawmaker in Georgia reacted to an anti-abortion legislation by introducing a “testicular bill of rights.”
“Ggggooooodddd morning! Introducing my “testicular bill of rights” legislative package. You want some regulation of bodies and choice? Done,” state Rep. Dar’shun Kendrick tweeted this week, outlining the core five principles of her bill.

Kendrick concedes that the bill is merely a messaging bill to highlight how a bill like the anti-abortion “heartbeat bill” looks from a woman’s perspective. Kendrick said she does not expect the bill to gain any traction.
The anti-abortion bill pending in the state Senate would ban abortions after six weeks, cutting the 20-week window offered by current Georgia law. The legislation is part of a larger national movement to pass heartbeat-focused bills, with similar legislation proposed in states like Ohio, Florida, and Texas.
At the federal level the House Republicans’ version of the “heartbeat” bill failed to garner enough support for a floor vote, both when the GOP was in the majority and now under Democratic leadership.
