Former SEAL offers his vision of leadership on Afghanistan

A retired U.S. Navy SEAL laid out the steps he would take if he were President Joe Biden.

Jocko Willink, 49, addressed his followers Monday in the manner he felt Biden should speak to the nation and the world.

“If I were president, and I had put our country into the current situation in Afghanistan, I would tell America, our allies, our enemies, and the world, something like this…” his caption read.

The SEAL detailed how he would address the crisis and assure stranded Americans and Afghan allies they wouldn’t be stranded for long.

“In the next 48 hours, America will be in control of most major airports in Afghanistan,” he said. “Any resistance we meet from the Taliban or otherwise — when we seize these airports — will be destroyed completely and without mercy.”

Willink said these airports would be critical in allowing U.S military forces to carry out swift rescue missions across the country.

“Any person who interferes with these operations will be killed,” he said.

He also said American troops would be ordered to seize and destroy the weapons and equipment of fleeing Afghan forces.

“Any person utilizing, guarding, or located in close proximity to these weapons or equipment will be killed,” he said.

Once Americans and Afghans are extracted and the weapons are either retrieved or destroyed, the United States will leave the country while keeping a close eye on possible terrorist activities and human rights violations, he said.

The U.S. will continue its support with special forces and airstrikes until there is no longer a threat to America or “the good people of Afghanistan,” he said.
