Heriberto Seda admired the original Zodiac Killer in California and in 1989 began sending letters to police and news organizations threatening to kill one person for each astrological sign.
Between 1990 and 1993, Seda shot or stabbed three people to death and critically wounded four others.
Seda was linked to the crimes when he was arrested in 1996 after shooting and wounding his sister and trading shots with the police at his Brooklyn home.
In Seda’s written confession, a detective noticed a peculiar symbol also used by the copycat Zodiac.
Seda, now 43, was sentenced to 235 years in prison.
