Say it with a rhyme this Valentine?s

Romance isn?t dead; it just needs a jump start.

Charles “Skip” Stover will be reading and signing his book, “Solitary Thoughts: Wings of a Love” at Greetings and Readings. The book, a compilation of romantic love poems, is a great way to kick off Valentine?s Day.

“This is poetry from the deepest part of my heart and soul,” Stover said. “I believe that when romance dies, the relationship dies. I?m trying to bring romance back into relationships.”

The author, who resides in Finksburg in Carroll County, has been writing for more than 30 years. Compiled during a 15-year period, “Solitary Thoughts” contains more than 80 of Stover?s poems. “I believe in romance,” he says of his inspiration for the book. “The feelings I have within my heart have been handed down to me through my parents.”

Stover says that his poetry is appropriate for everyone, young or old. “Anyone that?s ever had any feelings of love or romance can relate to any one of these poems in the book,” he said.

“Much like an actual poem, ?Solitary Thoughts? holds wonderment for those who seek it. When it simmers, it shines, flirting with all manner of love topics,” said Brent Sampson, president and CEO of OutskirtsPress Publishing. “Rarely will you uncover prose that percolates so perfectly.”

Beginning on March 1, Stover will be donating 100 percent of his proceeds from sales of Solitary Thoughts to the Ronald McDonald House of Maryland, where he volunteers. “I chose them because I see children as the future of our society,” he said. “I want to give back, to those children and families in need, because my family has been fortunate enough to have a happy, healthy life.”

Stover, who is planning on retiring soon to write full-time, is currently preparing for his next release, “Dangerous Love: 2010 A.D.” The novel, which will be available in late 2007, is a suspense story set in the future. He will be reading an excerpt at his signing.
