Whether former FBI Director James Comey is credible depends entirely on whether he’s attacking President Trump, according to resistance hero Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif.
The California Democrat appeared this week on MSNBC to discuss the Trump administration, palace intrigue, and Congress’ ongoing investigation into allegations Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
She apparently wasn’t ready for host Chris Hayes to ask her to square her opposition to Trump firing Comey with when she said in 2017 the former FBI director had “no credibility” — because her answer is something else.
Hayes led with, “You and Donald Trump do agree on that. That sentence you said — the FBI director has no credibility — you and Donald Trump are in agreement on that.”
“Yes, coming out of that classified briefing, I said that and I certainly meant it,” Waters responded. “However, I think it is quite different when you take a look at Comey and his relationship to the president.”
“What he’s said, what he’s done — I believe him. I believe him, yes. So then was then and now is now,” she added.
This is art.
Waters works in partisan hackery the same way Van Gogh worked in oils and Alexandros of Antioch worked in marble.
It’s almost a joy and privilege to watch her at work.
