Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., touted his role in helping conservative judges such as Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed through the Senate during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday.
“We are going to process as many conservative judges as we can,” Graham told a packed audience in Oxon Hill, Md. “I am chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, that matters.”
Graham recently gained the chairmanship after Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, ceded the top spot on the Judiciary Committee at the start of the new term. Both Graham and Grassley were pivotal in the confirmation fight over then-Supreme Court nominee Kavanaugh, who was facing sexual misconduct allegations.
“Judges, more judges, then some more judges,” said Graham about his efforts as chairman. He signaled his chairmanship would be defined by his willingness to stand up to attacks from the Left.
Earlier Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Neomi Rao who would take Brett Kavanaugh’s seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit if confirmed.
