4 dead, 15 wounded after truck drives into crowd in Jerusalem

A truck rammed into a group of Israeli soldiers as they were exiting a bus Jerusalem on Sunday, killing four and injuring 15, according to Israeli police.

According to police spokeswoman Luba Samri, the truck slammed into the group of soldiers in the Armon Hanatsov neighborhood. The four casualties include three women and one man, all in their 20s. The attacker was shot and killed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacker was likely an Islamic State supporter.

Chen Lendi Sharon, a paramedic, was the first at the scene of the attack and said that there were 10 bodies stuck underneath the truck when she arrived.

The attacker is reportedly an Arab from East Jerusalem and that there was no indication of an attack prior to the assault, according to Israeli police chief Roni Alsheich. Alseich declined to comment further as a gag order was placed on any further details.

The attack is the one of the deadliest of the past year and marks the first Israeli deaths at the hands of Palestinian terrorists in three months.

Palestinian attackers have now killed 40 Israelis, along with two Americans, dating back to September 2015, while 230 Palestinians have been killed by Israel, most of whom were attackers or died in clashes, according to Israel.
