Fox News has not tweeted from the network’s main Twitter account for exactly a year now, and it doesn’t seem like there is any plan to change that in the immediate future.
The network stopped tweeting on Nov. 8, 2018, after one of its anchors, Tucker Carlson, was doxxed on the platform. Protesters came to Carlson’s home, and they slammed into his front door while also screaming threats at his home. Carlson’s wife, who was home alone, thought it was a home invasion and hid in the pantry closet in fear of her safety.
Fox hasn’t seen a decrease in traffic in the year since they stopped tweeting, and they have shown no indication of rejoining the platform as a result.
A source familiar with Fox News’s ratings performance cited their YouTube numbers to the Washington Examiner in response to an inquiry about if they planned on starting to use Twitter again. That person also pointed out that the network just had a record month on YouTube and added that it brings in “significantly more revenue” for the network than Twitter did.
According to source, Facebook was prompt when alerted to posts that included his home address. Twitter support reportedly told Fox to “open a ticket” and did not remove the posts.

Fox stopped tweeting last year because they were unhappy with Twitter’s response to the attack against Carlson. They reported a video that was taken outside of Carlson’s home and posted on social media by an account that associates itself with antifa, which included his home address. Twitter Support told Fox to “open a ticket” while Facebook was more receptive of their request, according to Tribune Media content manager Scott Gustin.
At the time, Fox News made no public statements about boycotting Twitter, but Business Insider obtained an internal email from Fox News managing editor Greg Wilson which requested employees “please refrain from tweeting out our content from either section accounts or your own accounts until further notice.”
A network representative also pointed the Washington Examiner to a press release from last month saying that their “the number one most engaged news brand on social media” for the 61st month in a row with 41 million interactions, according to Socialbakers.
