FEDERAL COURT UPHOLDS FLORIDA’S DOCS VS. GLOCKS LAW

A federal appeals court is upholding a Florida law restricting what doctors can discuss about guns with their patients. A panel of judges on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta on Friday overturned a decision from a lower court that found the law unconstitutional. The appeals court called the law a “legitimate regulation of professional conduct” and that the limits imposed by it were “incidental.”

AG LAUNCHES INITIATIVE TO HAVE ER WORKERS LOOK OUT FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Emergency room doctors and nurses are often the only contact victims of human trafficking have with the outside world. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday launched an initiative that aims to train emergency workers how to identify signs of trafficking.

2 DEAD IN DUMP TRUCK CRASH NEAR ORLANDO

Two women are dead following a collision with a dump truck near Orlando. The crash happened around 10 a.m. Friday on Boggy Creek Road. The Florida Highway Patrol says a car made a left turn in front of the dump truck. The truck struck the left side of the car, killing both the driver and passenger.

A Tampa woman is heading to federal prison for 15 months after her conviction on charges of conspiring to commit marriage fraud. U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington handed down the sentence on Thursday in Tampa.
