Ford’s previews of ‘Necessary Sacrifices’ canceled

Because of a private health matter, David Emerson Toney has withdrawn from the cast of the Ford’s Theatre Society production of “Necessary Sacrifices.” Craig Wallace will take on the role of Frederick Douglass in the world premiere of the play by Richard Hellesen. Public performances will resume as scheduled on Jan. 26 with the fun extended through Feb. 18. Ford’s Theatre has canceled four preview performances between Friday and Tuesday in order to allow for the new cast member to rehearse. A revised performance schedule will be announced soon. Patrons with tickets to the canceled performances have the opportunity to exchange their tickets for another performance of “Necessary Sacrifices” through Feb. 12. Patrons who are unable to exchange may donate the value of their tickets to Ford’s Theatre Society or request a refund. The media performance, originally scheduled for Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m., will also be rescheduled for another date. Patrons interested in exchanges or refunds should call 202-347-4833. – Barbara Mackay
