This weekend brought FRC Action’s Values Voter Summit back to town — which, of course, means it was time for another appearance by Stephen Baldwin, the “Usual Suspects” star-turned-Christian conservative and foil to his liberal brother Alec.
Baldwin spoke Friday along with “Xtreme” radio host Kevin McCullough about bringing faith, God, and religion back into the government. “The American dream is faith,” Baldwin said on stage. The American dream is to get back to the faith within ourselves. That allows the spirit of the Lord to [help the government] through us.”
Baldwin said that a desire to stand for what he believes in lead him to become involved with the Values Voter Summit.
“There are aspects of the conservative movement that align with my walk of faith quite organically. … That coupled with being a Baldwin it’s kind of sort of unavoidable,” Baldwin said.
Later in the day, Baldwin and McCullough hosted a student reception for the younger generation of conservatives encouraging them to write messages in hopes of presenting President Obama with the largest letter ever sent to sitting president.
Also speaking to the crowd: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, former Miss California Carrie Prejean and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly.
