Metro adds extra trains for March for Life

Metro will add additional trains on Friday afternoon in anticipation of a major annual gathering of anti-abortion activists.

The transit system will run trains every eight minutes on Friday to compensate for the March for Life.

The organization behind the march said it expects “tens of thousands of Americans” to travel for the annual event. It will start with a rally at 11:45 a.m. and the march towards the U.S. Supreme Court starting at 1 p.m. on the National Mall.

Speakers at the event will include several lawmakers such as Rep. Mia Love, R-Utah., and Sen. Joni Ernest, R-Iowa.

White House Senior Counselor Kellyanne Conway is also expected to speak, organizers said.

Metro has faced a major 48-hour stress test this past weekend with President Trump’s inauguration Friday and the Women’s March on Saturday.
