Nigel Lythgoe, the producer behind “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” has partnered with MGM Television to reboot the 1980 film and subsequent 1982 series of “Fame.” Lythgoen with serve as producer of the show. The producers told Deadline that the reboot will be “set against the backdrop of today’s unprecedented access to the world of celebrity, it will expose the gritty struggle, heartache and pain endured in the search for stardom.” No word yet on which network will pick up the project, but considering Lythgoen’s relationship with Fox, one can speculate that it might end up there.
