Fairfax County police have formed a task force to catch the man who has been cutting young women at area malls. Nine women have reported that they were cut on the buttocks while shopping. The man is believed to be using a box cutter or razor.

Police said Fairfax officers are meeting with authorities from other jurisdictions to share information and increase awareness about the cases. No cases have yet been reported outside Fairfax.

Police said extra uniformed officers are being stationed at malls as the investigation continues.

The slashings began in February and the most recent was reported July 25.
