The United States is in need of a root canal, according to Democratic strategist James Carville.
Carville compared President Trump to a “giant, infected wisdom tooth” that needs to be removed in 2020. Carville declined to elaborate on whether a successful presidential bid by Joe Biden could redeem Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 campaign because he said he needed to remain focused on 2020.
“I’m going to, you know, dwell on all of my resentments after this election, but right now, I’ve just got one mission in life and that is to help extract this giant, infected wisdom tooth that is, you know, hurting the body politic of this country,” Carville said.
“And we’ve just got to come together and get it done. And I’ve got to put off all of my resentments and all of my complaints and everything until this job is done. I honestly believe that,” he added.
Carville said he has “a lot of resentments” about the 2016 election, including the campaign’s handling of Clinton’s email scandal. Clinton was investigated by the FBI for allegedly mishandling classified documents by using a private email while working as secretary of state.
“Obviously, all of us have a lot of resentments and a lot of complaints and, you know, it’s an idiotic email story and, you know, no one will take responsibility for it. But right now during this convention, we’re all excited about Vice President Biden,” Carville said.
Clinton will address the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday evening. Carville became a top name in political strategy after helping Bill Clinton win his presidential bid in 1992.
