It’s official: The Sunshine State has stolen Virginia’s education chief.
Don’t worry, Virginia, you’ve still got lovers.
Gerard Robinson, the commonwealth’s secretary of education, was tapped Tuesday morning to be Florida’s education commissioner under Republican Gov. Rick Scott.
The vote was unanimous, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Scott’s office called Robinson “a nationally recognized leader in school choice.”
His “leadership as an experienced education reformer and advocate for school choice and closing the achievement gap is exactly what Florida needs to reach the next level of education reforms that will benefit both our students and the businesses of our state,” Scott said.
No word yet on who will replace Robinson as chief of Virginia’s ABCs, but we’ll keep you posted.
