Supporters of the D.C.-based anti-domestic violence charity Knock-Out Abuse are in for a surprise next Thursday, as “Sopranos” star and singer of Italian ballads Dominic Chianese is set to entertain at its VIP sponsor dinner at the Decatur House.

Knock-Out Abuse co-founder Cheryl Masri explains that she was with friend Fred Cannon of the music-licensing company BMI, and was wondering aloud about entertainment for the event.
Cannon flipped open his cell phone, and called Chianese, better known as Uncle Junior.
“All I need is a room and a plane ticket,” came the response from the 76-year-old.
“For some reason it just seemed like it worked,” Masri said.
Chianese, who has been singing for nearly 50 years, has cut several albums. He told the New Jersey Star-Ledger that he was first inspired by seeing Frank Sinatra in 1947.
Wonder if he’s got some Ol’ Blue Eyes tunes in his repertoire.
