Rand Paul changed his usual slogan from “Audit the Fed” to “Audit the Ted” in order to attack fellow Sen. Ted Cruz in a new video campaign.
The video video shows two cartoon characters speaking in automated, monotone British accents about Cruz’s failure to vote for Paul’s audit the Federal Reserve bill on January 12, as the candidate was busy on the campaign trail.
“But campaigning costs money, where does the Ted Cruz get his money from?” the cartoon asks.
“I hear Wall Street money. Even millions from the Goldman Sachs … they are the fed,” the other cartoon character replies.
The video goes on to explain that while Cruz supported Paul’s bill in the Senate, not only did he not show up to the vote, he also received a loan from Goldman Sachs when running for Senate and did not fully disclose this information.
While Cruz and Paul have worked together in the Senate, Cruz leads Paul by a considerable amount in the polls nationally . Cruz is vying with Donald Trump for the lead in Iowa and is in second place in most national polls.
“So why do they call him a grassroots candidate?” the cartoon asks, referring to Cruz’s donations. “Doesn’t he claim to be against the establishment?”
“I hear good things about the Rand Paul,” the monotone cartoon responds. “He is for individual liberty the free market and auditing the Fed.”
Paul told supporters “I want this video to go viral.”
“I think it’s about time we elect leaders we can trust and with your help, we can spread this message far and wide,” he added. “We have enough politicians working for special interests in Washington, don’t you think?”
