Personal reasons bench Bears’ starters

The Bears were without two starters in their 19-17 loss to Winston-Salem State Saturday afternoon at Hughes Stadium.

Coach Donald Hill-Eley said after the game that both cornerback Darren McKahn and wide receiver Roderick Wolfe missed the Bears? (1-2) game due to “personal reasons.”

He expects both to be back in the lineup Thursday night at 7 when Morgan State travels to take on the defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Champion Hampton Pirates.

Wolfe, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound senior and Edmondson High graduate, was a pre-season All-MEAC second team selection and led the team in receptions last year. Through two games he led the Bears with 10 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.

McKahn, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound sophomore who transferred from the University of Connecticut, was expected to have a large impact this season. Listed as a starter the last two weeks, McKahen has recorded 5 tackles and one pass break-up.

“There is some personal stuff we are dealing with for both those guys,” Hill-Eley said.
