Joe Buck the voice of FOX MLB coverage is not shy when it come to the topic of what should be done when Barry Bonds breaks Hank Aarons homerun record. The always candid Buck talks about how the Commissioner should be at the park when Bonds breaks the record.
BUCK: AARON & SELIG IN TWO DIFFERENT BALLPARKS — The debate surrounding Barry Bonds’ pursuit of home run No. 755 and beyond now includes who should be in attendance to celebrate and commemorate the event, namely current record holder Hank Aaron and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig. MLB on FOX’s lead play-by-play announcer Joe Buck feels Aaron and Selig have different factors to consider. “They are in two different categories. I think Hank Aaron can do whatever he wants on that day. If Hank Aaron wants to be there, he should go. If he wants to golf, he should golf. But from an MLB standpoint, there has never been anything that has condemned Bonds. That being the case, I think the Commissioner should be there. There should be some kind of celebration of the game and I don’t think the Commissioner would be sending the wrong message by being there. We’ll have a better understanding of all this in time, but right now there is no way that a guy that hasn’t failed any MLB-administered tests, shouldn’t be honored on that day.”
