Police investigating possible hate crime after pro-Palestinian mob allegedly attacks Jewish diners

Police are investigating a possible Jewish hate crime after a mob attacked a group of diners at a Los Angeles sushi restaurant.

“A group of Palestinians, about 30 of them, jumped out of a car and asked who was Jewish. Two guys said they were, and they proceeded to beat them up,” said a witness who caught the aftermath on video. “They’re apparently going around the city and asking who’s Jewish and beating them up. This is America, guys. Things are not looking good.”

Other witnesses also described a mob of pro-Palestinian people attacking the group of Jewish diners Tuesday while yelling racial slurs.

One of the diners, who is not Jewish, described a caravan of people waving pro-Palestine flags approaching his group and throwing bottles at them. The witness said he was then physically attacked when he tried to defend the group, with the attackers using anti-Jewish profanity.

Police say there were no major injuries in the attack, and no arrests were immediately made. The group of attackers, who were described as men wearing all black, fled the scene in a black Jeep. The restaurant did not sustain any damage.

Authorities said they are also investigating an incident Monday after security footage appeared to show an Orthodox Jewish man being chased by a caravan of people waving Palestinian flags.

The incident comes amid increasing tensions in Gaza, with Hamas rockets killing 12 Israeli citizens. The bombings have sparked a barrage of attacks on Hamas targets by Israel, resulting in the deaths of 200 Palestinians.
