Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign manager ‘glad’ James Comey admitted he thought Clinton would win

Hillary Clinton’s former campaign manager Robby Mook was philosophical Monday in response to fired FBI Director James Comey’s assumption Clinton would win the 2016 election was a factor in how he managed the investigation of her use of a private email server.

“I am glad he’s talking about it because we can’t go back in time and change what happened, so from my perspective, what matters the most is thinking about the future and what we can do to make things better moving forward,” Mook told CNN.

Mook reiterated complaints Comey’s handling of the probe was “totally inappropriate” and “contrary to protocol,” but added he wasn’t arguing Comey changed the outcome of the presidential contest.

“I think it’s important to have a mature discussion and not just make people good or bad or evil or heroes. James Comey, I’m glad he’s going out and saying what he saw and speaking the truth that he saw who Donald Trump really is. But I also [hope] we spend some time thinking of the future,” he continued.

Comey detailed his decision-making process in an interview with ABC on Sunday to promote his forthcoming memoir, “A Higher Loyalty.”

His book is set to be released Tuesday.
