Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s guilty plea shows that special counsel Robert Mueller is getting results from the investigation into Russia’s 2016 interference.
“[C]learly he is making progress,” Collins said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “He has guilty pleas from two individuals, he’s had two other indictments, so he is making progress.”
Mueller’s team announced Friday that Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his communications with Russian officials during President Trump’s transition into office.
Reports also said senior-level transition officials discussed sanctions placed on Russia under then-President Obama.
Collins said those conversations were inappropriate.
“During the transition period, there’s still only one president and that was President Obama, so those conversations should not have been taking place,” she said.
