Eight Prince George’s County firefighters were injured battling a large single-family house fire in University Park.
Fire crews were called to the two-story home on Partridge Place late Sunday night and found heavy fire and smoke coming from both floors. The fire was so bright that dispatchers received 911 calls from high-rise buildings a mile away.

A family of five that lives at the home escaped unharmed. The injured firefighters were taken to hospitals to be treated for minor burns, sprains, cuts and exhaustion.
Investigators believe the fire is accidental and estimated the damage at $700,000.
