Trump meets with potential Supreme Court pick

President-elect Trump has begun meeting with potential Supreme Court nominees as he prepares to fill the vacancy created by Justice Antonin Scalia’s death last year.

Trump met with Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals Judge William Pryor on Saturday in New York City, according to Above the Law’s David Lat. At a press conference last week, Trump said, “We’ve met with numerous candidates,” and would make an announcement “probably” within two weeks of the inauguration.

Pryor, an Alabama native, has long been thought to be near the top of Trump’s Supreme Court shortlist. Trump named Pryor as a “fantastic” potential replacement for Scalia during a February 2016 GOP primary debate, before releasing his court shortlists of 21 potential candidates.
