LOCAL GAMES

Players to watchRicky StanziThe only game pitting ranked teams this weekend also is an enticing matchup of standout quarterbacks as Stanzi and Iowa (2-0), ranked seventh in The Washington Examiner’s Top 25 poll, travel to face Nick Foles and No. 16 Arizona (2-0) on Saturday night (ESPN). The QBs rank ninth and 11th in the nation, respectively, in passing efficiency. Colin KaepernickIf Nevada (2-0) is to contend with No. 5 Boise State in the patsy-filled WAC, it will be up to QB Kaepernick. On Friday night (ESPN2), the 6-foot-6 senior goes against California (2-0). Kaepernick has accounted for 547 yards passing and 221 rushing, averaging a gaudy 10.0 a carry.  Robert QuinnLast year, Georgia Tech’s option offense ran a clinic against North Carolina and DE Quinn, holding the ball for 42 minutes of a 24-7 victory as the Tar Heels’ defense showed little proclivity for assignment football. Can Georgia Tech (1-1) do it again, this time in Chapel Hill (ESPN3)? Cameron NewtonAuburn’s king-sized junior QB (6-foot-6, 250), already had passed for 322 yards and rushed for 241. On Saturday (ESPN), he and the No. 18 Tigers (2-0) face a Clemson (2-0) squad, led by sophomore QB Kyle Parker, that has yet to be challenged.Jeffrey DempsIf No. 8 Florida (2-0) is to avoid an upset at Tennessee (1-1), the Gators will need big plays from RB Demps, who is averaging 12.8 yards a carry. The Vols were undone by the speed of No. 4 Oregon last week and don’t want to go down in similar fashion (CBS).– Kevin Dunleavy

UNDER THE RADAR GAMES

Heisman watchDenard RobinsonNo. 17 Michigan’s QB has sprinted to the front of the Heisman class, rushing for 455 yards and passing for 430. On Saturday at the Big House (Big Ten Network), the sophomore looks to extinguish any notions FCS school UMass might have of an Appalachian State-like upset.Terrelle PryorNo. 2 Ohio State’s QB enhanced his Heisman stock last week, passing for 233 yards and rushing for 113 in a win over Miami. On Saturday against visiting Ohio (BTN), look for the Buckeyes to build a quick lead and save Pryor for games that matter.Ryan MallettThe strong-armed QB and No. 13 Arkansas get their first stiff test of the year at Georgia on Saturday afternoon (ESPN). The Bulldogs need a big performance to atone for last week’s 17-6 stinker at South Carolina and to remove some of the heat from coach Mark Richt.Mark IngramComing off arthroscopic knee surgery, RB Ingram returns for No. 1 Alabama against visiting Duke on Saturday afternoon (ABC). How much will the Crimson Tide need the Heisman Trophy winner, especially against a defense that already has yielded 81 points?Jake LockerOften compared to 49ers great Steve Young, Washington QB Locker has a chance to be the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
