Parents do some pretty embarrassing and adorable things on social media. My mother’s favorite thing to do is share cringe-worthy throwback photos via Facebook’s On This Day feature. My father, who virtually never uses social media, once liked 76 photos of mine in one sitting, sending me a push notification for every single photo.
Whether it is writing something on your Facebook wall that should have been shared over text, stumbling across your Snapchat account, or using way too many hashtags on an Instagram post, no one is safe from the antics of affectionate and technologically un-savvy parents online.
Not even House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
McCarthy’s dear mother, Roberta, is all of our mothers on Instagram. Two days ago, McCarthy shared a photo on his Instagram account featuring himself, Senators Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz, as well as President Trump with the caption, “NASA Reauthorization Bill Signing in the Oval Office,” to which his mother responded, “So proud of you and love you so much (Mom).”
Momma McCarthy’s other adorable shout outs include “how previous” on a #TBT of Kevin McCarthy and his siblings, as well as “look at those babies” complete with multiple heart emojis on a picture of her grandchildren.

Roberta McCarthy’s Instagram account includes only 22 photos, most of which are shout-outs to her family members.
Nothing keeps you grounded quite like family. This just goes to show that no matter how much attention and spotlight your job may bring, your number one fan will always be your mom.
