Netanyahu to White House: ‘Remember who your ally is’

Benjamin Netanyahu commented on a White House tweet critical of his recent address to Congress.

The tweet, sent out by by the White House National Security Council’s official account, linked to a Washington Post article by Fareed Zakiria, calling it an “interesting take on why PM Netanyahu predictions on Iran have been wrong for 25 years.”

When asked whether he was offended by the tweet, the Israeli prime minister hedged.

“The reason I’ve been warning for 25 years is because Iran has been trying to get the bomb,” Netanyahu told Bob Schieffer on “Face the Nation” Sunday, adding, “If we had let our guard down then Iran would have had the weapon.”

Instead, he said he would choose to use Twitter to retweet a recent call by Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenia for Israel to be destroyed.

“Even in these times of […] disagreement,” he said, an indirect statement to the Obama administration, “It’s useful to remember who your ally is and who your enemy is.”
