Endorsements coming fast and furious in race to replace Ticer

Though Virginia’s Democratic primary is still months away, the endorsement battle in the race to replace retiring state Sen. Patsy Ticer, D-Alexandria, is already at fever pitch.

The campaign of Del. Adam Ebbin, D-Alexandria, announced Tuesday that he has picked up the endorsement of 10 members of the House of Delegates from throughout Northern Virginia.

The list includes Democratic Dels. Bob Brink, David Bulova, Eileen Filler-Corn, Patrick Hope, Mark Keam, Kaye Kory, Ken Plum, Mark Sickles, Scott Surovell and Vivian Watts.

Meanwhile, Arlington School Board Chairwoman Libby Garvey has the backing of Ticer herself, while Alexandria City Councilman Rob Krupicka has picked up support from Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, Sheriff Dana Lawhorne and Commonwealth’s Attorney Randy Sengel.

Brink himself took a pass on a possible Senate run to replace retiring Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple, D-Arlington, while Hope has been mentioned as a possible candidate in that race. Arlington County Board member Barbara Favola has announced she’ll run for that seat.

And, depending on how redistricting shapes up, Keam is set to face a challenge from right-leaning Virginia blogger Brian Schoeneman in his bid for re-election.
