Not a full-pad workout this morning; still a few notable plays/efforts on this last day of two-a-days.
Studs
WR Marko Mitchell. Has flashed a lot the past three days, displaying excellent hands — as he has all camp. But he’s now doing a better job on routes other than go’s and slants (though he burned Kevin Barnes on a stop and go). He made a nice grab along the right sidelines, with arms outstretched, against Carlos Rogers. He is not necessarily in the lead for the No. 5 spot; Marques Hagans, Trent Shelton and D.J. Hackett are in that race. But it might be hard to slip a 6-foot-4 receiver whose shown he can run through waivers.
DE Andre Carter. Tipped a pass on the first play of seven-on-seven, coming through the middle from left end on a stunt. London Fletcher picked off the pass. Carter got inside — fast — vs. Stephon Heyer on the next play.
RG Chad Rinehart. The Rhino did a solid job vs. Antonio Dixon, turning him outside on one play and moving him back on another. Got his hands into Dixon’s chest. Now, keep in mind that Dixon won’t make the team unless it’s the practice squad. So Rhinehart should stop him. But we’re showing our kind-hearted side today since we’ve been a bit tough on the Rhino. Besides, not a whole lot happened.
Duds
CB Kevin Barnes. After looking better earlier this week — more patient; eyes in the right place — Barnes has reminded everyone of one fact: he’s a rookie who’s not yet ready to play anything other than special teams. Mitchell beat him on a stop and go this morning. Double moves have been an issue.
RT Stephon Heyer. Carter got him inside on one occasion; Phillip Daniels got past him on another. But that was about it in terms of negative plays for him. Still, it’s hot outside, we’re a little cranky and therefore grading tough.
QB Colt Brennan. Seemed a bit off in his throws during seven-on-seven work. Threw high and behind Mitchell on on eplay and too wide to him on the next.
