President Trump said Friday that his current approval rating is several points higher than recent surveys suggest.
“A poll just came out now, Rasmussen, it’s now 51,” Trump said on WABC morning radio show in New York. “They say that it’s 5,1 but add another 7 or 8 points to it. They don’t want to talk about it, but when they get into the booth they’re going to vote for Trump.”
Trump was referring to a poll released Monday by right-leaning Rasmussen Reports that said Trump’s approval is higher than former President Barack Obama’s was at this point in the presidency, at 50 percent approval.
Another report from the pollsters was released later in the week that said his approval now jumped to 51 percent. Trump thanked Rasmussen for their “honest polling.”
But other polling sites report that Trump’s approval percentage among voters is much lower and say his approval numbers are in the low 40s.
Morning Consult Poll released a report Thursday saying Trump’s approval rating hit an all-time low in March with an approval rating of just 41 percent.
