‘Farce’: Megyn Kelly reacts to transgender swimmer’s win over biological women

Podcast host Megyn Kelly was among the many critics of a transgender swimmer who took first in the women‘s NCAA championship 500-yard freestyle Thursday.

Lia Thomas, a biological male-turned-transgender woman, has been competing against women on the University of Pennsylvania’s swim team, drawing the ire of those who see it as unfair.

“This is a farce. Lia Thomas is not the women’s champion and has some nerve standing there pretending to be,” Kelly tweeted Friday.

“There is a way to allow [transgender] rights without decimating women’s sports. This ain’t it.”

Before launching her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly worked at Fox News from 2004 to 2017. Afterward, Kelly launched a short-lived daytime talk show at NBC News.

Kelly’s podcast is currently seventh-rated in the United States news and commentary category on Apple Music.

On Thursday, Thomas swam the 500-yard freestyle in a record 4 minutes, 33.24 seconds at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
