Trump Jr. rips Clinton aide’s ‘lies’ about dad, Putin

Donald Trump’s eldest son tore into Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager on Sunday after the Clinton aide suggested that Russian hackers had leaked thousands of internal Democratic National Committee emails to help elect his father.

“It’s troubling that some experts are now telling us that this was done by the Russians for the purpose of helping Donald Trump,” Clinton campaign chief Robby Mook told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos in an interview Sunday morning.

Less than an hour later, Donald Trump Jr. attempted to set the record straight during an appearance on CNN.

“It just goes to show you their exact moral compass. They’ll say anything to be able to win this. This is time and time again, lie after lie,” Trump Jr. told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “You notice, he won’t say ‘well, I say this.’ You know, his house cat at home once said that this is what’s happening with the Russians.”

He continued, “It’s disgusting. It’s so phony. I can’t think of bigger lies and I think this goes to show you what the DNC and what the Clinton campaign will do. They will lie and do anything to win. It’s a rigged system. It’s disgusting and the people should be fed up with it.”

“These lies and the perpetuating of that kind of nonsense to try to gain some political capital — he should be ashamed of himself,” Trump Jr. said of Mook, adding that “if a Republican did that, they would be calling for people to bring out the electric chair.”

Nearly 20,000 DNC emails from seven party officials were released by WikiLeaks on Friday. A Romanian hacker who goes by the name Guccifer 2.0 has claimed responsibility for the leaks, but some have suspected Russian involvement.
