Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, said Monday the roommate of the man accused of carrying out multiple package bombings in the Austin area is considered to be a “person of interest” in the ongoing investigation.
“I would say at this point, a person of interest is being questioned,” McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told Fox News.
Although the investigation is continuing, McCaul said they are still questioning one of Mark Anthony Conditt’s roommates.
“When we talk about ongoing investigation, even though the operation center is wound down at this point, what is continuing at this point is the questioning of the roommate,” McCaul said.
The now-deceased 23-year-old who carried out the attacks killed two and injured several others.
McCaul revealed some more information from the confession tape recovered from Conditt’s cell phone after he killed himself in his car by self detonating a bomb.
Conditt referred to himself as a “psychopath” in the video and appeared to show no remorse for the bombings.
