Howard inspectors driving green

Howard County?s licensing and permits inspectors will get seven new hybrid cars.

County Executive Ken Ulman plans to deliver the 2007 Toyota Prius cars to the Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits on Monday morning.

The cars get 60 miles per gallon in the city and 51 mpg on the highway, Ulman said.

When unveiling the fiscal 2008 budget earlier this year, Ulman pledged to buy more hybrid vehicles. He drives the county?s first hybrid vehicle, a 2007 Ford Escape.
