Mark Halperin of Bloomberg Politics said Monday that Hillary Clinton “will be tying herself in knots” trying to distance herself from President Obama ahead of her probable 2016 presidential run.
Halperin and Bloomberg Businessweek’s Joshua Green on “All Due Respect” discussed a Pew poll conducted in May that showed 65 percent of Americans want the next president to have policies different from those of President Obama.
“That’s something that’s going to be difficult for Clinton to achieve,” Green remarked.
“John McCain had to try to figure out how to distance himself from George Bush, Al Gore from Bill Clinton,” Halperin responded in agreement. “I think Hillary Clinton will be tying herself in knots, because she usually does about complicated things.”
Clinton has already demonstrated her effort to distance herself from Obama, claiming in July that we need to “fix” Obamacare and later in the summer slamming the president’s “don’t do stupid stuff” foreign policy strategy.
Of course, these attempts have already colored Clinton a hypocrite, considering she defended and supported Obamacare ahead of and throughout its rocky rollout and helped Obama make foreign policy decisions during her time as secretary of State.
Obama himself admitted Sunday that Americans will be looking for a “new car smell” in their next president.
Unfortunately for Clinton, her policies reek of the Obama mobile.
