Baltimore City School Police believe they will be able to identifyat least some of the four suspects caught on videotape in connection with a weekend burglary and vandalism break-in that closed Chinquapin Middle School on Monday.

“Twenty-four classroom door windows were broken, the main office was ransacked, and bleach and scouring powder were thrown all over the cafeteria,” said Edie House, a city schools spokeswoman.

Antonio Williams, chief of Baltimore City Schools Police, said an estimated $1,900 in damage was done to the school and an estimated $1,200 worth of digital camera equipment, surveillance CDs and other objects were stolen.

He added there have been several break-ins at city schools this year, “but nothing to this extent.”

“We have images of four suspects and partial fingerprints from fire extinguishers,” Williams said. “Our investigation is ongoing.”

Williams asked anyone with information concerning the break-in to call the Baltimore City Schools Police at 410-396-8588.
